Stuart Moir

“I studied illustration and printmaking at Duncan of Jordonstone.

After several years as an illustrator/graphic designer manager, I returned to my roots as a painter.

To date, my focus has been landscapes and portraiture, main influences are 16th century Indian and Flemish art (in particular Pieter Bruegel the Elder) and the French Naturalists.

My approach to landscape entails first and foremost to embrace and capture the ever changing elements. Numerous Plein air studies (watercolour) act as a detailed references for studio based oil paintings.

The object of my portraits are to highlight individuals, who for the most part been almost forgotten, but played an integral role in their lifetime and beyond”
